I challenge myself through the creation of my artwork. I love to be in
that uncomfortable space between exuberant impulses and calming artistic traditions. I struggle to capture movements of my
body through a medium. These efforts take me to places unconstrained by formal elements--large, strong movements that well
up from deep within and bend through space to be seized by friction between medium and surface. My body reacts as if these
one-framed plays emerge from a natural, long-forgotten place of sandboxes and jungle-gyms, while my mind yearns to retreat
to the comfort of formal elements and principles--to reign in the intuitive and the impulsive. My mind struggles as my body
enjoys the creative process.
